New to the site and Fords!

Post by rammin03 »

Hi to all the members. As stated in the title, I am new to the site but more important, new to Ford....

I have a 1969 F-350 I have been using for the last 6 years running dirt, sand, wood, and gravel in Wisconsin. I have relocated and am in the process of trying to retire this work horse to an easy life. Its been a good truck and I can say its built pretty well. I am a retired Army guy who thought this could be some new hobby as I have never worked on cars ever in my life.

It has been a challenge to find out information for an F350 this old, seems a lot of information is for the F150 and F250 but not the 1-ton dually.

Simple items like oil capacity and what fuel pump I need is hard to come by. BTW, the fuel pump appears to be mounted upside down...

It has its own character about it but needs help. I hope to find information on this site. Merry Christmas, happy new year, and let the information start flowing!

Glen

Awesome looking truck - looking forward to seeing more pics. Love the stance

Most of the mechanical stuff is identical to other models of the same year - the beefier chassis, dually rear and heavier duty suspension components are the big difference with the F350. I've never found another one in the wrecking yard - all the stuff I've scavenged for mine over the years came from F100/250 parts trucks. My fuel pump is a store bought one for an F250 of the same year with an FE.

:wel: from MA and fellow Dually owner!

Love the truck! Mine was originally Olive Green (I think since the jambs are flaking and revealing olive green under the awful Maaco black currently on there). Been hinting to the wife it would look so much better returned to the original green, and I think showing her yours could be the straw.

Best of luck!

Joe,

Its originally a yellow truck, I have found some of it around in certain areas and thanks to the VIN lookup, I found it was originally Chrome Yellow...

Happy New Year!

I honestly don't know of any Bump, that I've seen the door jambs of anyway, that hasn't been resprayed a different color. Of course I don't know of many, but still it sure seems common practice to respray them no matter what color you get. I took a closer look at mine and discovered it was originally a forest green like yours is now, I guess the lighting the first few times I looked made it look olive (or I wasn't really looking all that close). Anyway, I definitely want to put mine back to green some day when the budget allows.

Something I learned from your photos (specifically the one where you painted the FORD on the bed yellow) is that the back of my bed also has that FORD bump out lettering... except the previous owner of mine welded a tie down point over the O and R. Grr! Now I have to remove that, and try to repair the damage to the O and R.
