Basket case

Post by Beardlife »

Hi all, first time Ford owner from central California. I've been lurking a couplemonths, but haven't needed to post yet, because literally every obscure question I could ask so far has been answered in detail somewhere.
I picked up this 1971 f250 360 camper special for 500 bucks, came with a spare bed and a pile of parts. My plan is to use it as a daily when it rains, and the occasional light camping trip.
I got it running and driving for the price of a fuel pump, but now I'm in to it significantly farther and much more interested in making it something extra cool. It already has a 4bbl on it, and the exhaust is trash anyway from the manifolds back, so why not run dual with headers? Maybe once I've covered the basics, I'll stroke it to 410 and put a locker in it, we'll see.
Glad to be here!

Welcome to the website! I'm new as well. Also, only $500? How come cars in US are so cheap?

Only $500 because almost everything on it is garbage! floor panels have rust hole, bed was rotten (although it did come with a second, passable bed). I've put in another transmission, brake shoes, drums, cylinders, master and booster, replaced the distributor and rebuilt the carburetor already, and i still haven't touched the exhaust, the interior, or the wiring. needs a radiator and a heater core, and the only electrical items that work on it are the ignition, and the tail lights and temp gauge I've wired in.

so, cheap because I got what I paid for. Hey, I was looking for a project.... :D
