T bolts for Western mirror upper bracket

Post by jingo »

I'm missing a couple of the upper bracket T-bolts for one of my mirrors. I could fabricate them from sheet steel and 1/4" threaded rod, but if any one has a couple they're willing to part with I'd be thankful. Willing to trade some extra 3/8" SS acorn nuts and paid postage...maybe (like me) you're rebuilding your mirrors? Thanks.

I just made them from stainless bolts. I think they were 1/4" and pretty simple to trim the head down to form the 'T'.

Was just working on redoing a set on my lunch break. No one makes the upper T bolts anymore. If you grind one side of a 1/4-20 hex head down to the stud that would work; that's what I did. Or I've heard of people using a round headed bolt.
Just some ideas...

This is why I post here, but just lurk elsewhere :fr:

Grinding down the head of a 1/4" SS bolt (any head) is quality - quick, easy, cheap, permanent.

Thanks.
