You mean these? http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/PROTO- ... cket-1AL63

My dad has a set of them he bought at a tool tent at some county fair once. Most are broke though because they couldnt even turn a paper nut.

no it is a regular socket . but instead of 3/8 square drive they are allen wrench drive. depending on the size of the socket the size of the allen or hex needed to drive them changes. they are almost double sided sockets. but they werent designed to be double sided sockets.

this one is rusted over any markings. the large hex is the socket. the small hex is to drive the socket.

Here's one of mine I ran across today:

Another view:

The allen wrench on these actually have a spring loaded ball bearing similar to a regular ratchet. Although the socket here is made in japan. :D
I've got several more of them "thrown around" somewhere, can't say I've ever used them though...

I have two sets. One in 3/8 and the other in 1/2. The nice thing about them you can place all the sockets on the allen wrench and it conserves space like in the tool bag for my motorcycle. You dont see many of them anymore and when you do most people dont know what they are.
Also check out this site on old tools. Ill warn you if your like me you will be on it all day.
