Letting outsiders view your project?

Post by sargentrs »

One of the things that I find slightly frustrating is not being to show friends and family my project without giving them my login and password. It would be really cool to be able to post a link or email somebody your project thread and they be able to read and view my photos. Is it possible/practical to have "read only" access opened up to allow this? Just asking.... :D

One of the great benefits of external picture hosting is anyone can view my pics. All I have to do is email the link to the page.

I've got a photobucket account I rarely use. I hate the way they "updated" the whole website over there.

It does take a bit of getting used to, but once pics over there are linked to here, anyone can see them.

Thanks for the input, guys! I have over 800 photos of my project and adding more every week. Aw heck, nobody but Fordification members care about it anyway.

I can see the logic in that, it is a Keith question though.

I suppose whether it is even possible depends on whether attachment permissions can be set on a forum specific basis or if they are set globally. Obviously passing attachments to all viewers is a use of bandwidth and I think we are bumping on our limits already.

The "default" on most forums is not to show them to unregistered (or un logged in) members.

Same applies to the photo gallery, doesn't it?

I can see the photo galleries when not logged in, but yes they would pass bandwidth too...
