What is the most valuable part on a bumpside?

Post by flywheel »

The engine? People use FE's and other ford engines so I dont think its the engine. Under dash A/C? And whats the holy grail part? What do you think?

I'll take a stab at it...
I'd have to say the 67-69's front grills.
There is a list Keith put together though that might help you make up your mind:

SOLD-71 F-350 dually flatbed, 302 / .030 over V-8 with a "baby"C-6, B & M truckshifter, Dana70/4.11 ratio, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, full LED lighting on the flat bed, and no stereo yet (this way I can hear the rattles to diagnose)! SOLD!
Many Ford bumps / one 76' EB / and several dents through the years.
A lot of "oddball" Ford parts collected from working on them for 34 years now!

The Holy Grail would be the following.

1. The behind-the-seat storage console
2. Bucket seat brackets
3. Rear sport bumper brackets
4. Brake power booster brackets
5. Onan (sp) on board generator and brackets
6. Factory A/C unit (in cab, not under hood components)

Keith's list is good also but the things I mentioned are what I look for.

I'd say the "bump" along both sides of the truck. If it didn't have that, it wouldn't be a bumpside, therefore its the most valuable part.

I think that list nails the valuable parts.

Most valuable part is a 1967 and 1968 MERCURY endgate. But I finally found one at an old farm, and he gave it to me!! :woohoo:

I also bought a 1959 Mercury M350 dually one ton, custom cab c/w vented wheels. 292 Y block, 4 speed, hydraulic clutch, straight grill and all white knobs and steering wheel. $300. Guess I got my winter projects out there, now to bring them home. :hmm:

Rust free inner fenders. Or, just about any rust free sheet metal.

For me, it is a factory jack handle. I had my hands on one once and didn't pick it up. Haven't seen one since.
