Bone yard scores today

Post by F100builder »

I took another trip to my local pick-your-part yard and was looking for some door panels with the stainless trim for my '70 project. There were only 2 bumps there this time (a '69 and a '71) and 5 or 6 dents.

I cruised the dentsides and found an FE engine tower that's swept forward to make room for a power steering box. I wasn't really looking for one but found it and will use it instead of notching the other tower. Also, I grabbed a front valence from the '69 because I want to install a '67 grille in the '70 and they look better with the proper valence.

And now, saving the best for last, the whole reason I went to the yard (hint in the above photo)...

I picked up these beautiful things! Yes...that is heavily metal-flaked purple on those panels! They were on the '71 that was painted bright yellow and had two 'Cobra' stripes from the front of the hood to the tailgate that were also this purple color (dash was purple too). It was ugly as sin. Sorry if the PO is reading this but whoa! They will need a strip and repaint...
