VIN decode

Post by djjsc »

Looking @ a '69 w/ a DSO of A47471. Per the Fordification on-line decoder; American orders used only numbers & Canadian orders started w/ B so the syntax doesn't fit the Fordification decoder. Any feedback? Thank you.

Your dso indicates a Lincoln/Mercury dealer order in probably Saskatchewan or Manitoba. 'A' was used for the Canadian Lincoln/Mercury dealers and 'B' was used by the cdn Ford dealers. The sales zones were numbered 1-7 across the country from the east. Therefore, a B6 would be an Alberta Ford dealer and A7 would be a BC L/M dealer. Prior to may '68, this A code would be a possible indicator of an original Mercury pickup but the only way to know for certain would be to get a Marti Report. After the spring of '68, both the cdn Ford and L/M dealerships sold only Ford trucks.
