Dash light help

Post by cboswell »

I am going through my 72 and trying to figure out all of the wiring. There are five bulbs in the instrument cluster and only the two top ones work. I cleaned all the connections with an eraser and am sure that I am getting good contact. I used the test light on the connection that plugs into the dash cluster and I am only getting a light on two of them. Replaced all the fuses and still no go. I am not sure if the actual gauges work because the motor is not running yet. Hopefully this Sunday. I am stumped and don't know what to do next.

U probably already checked, but are u sure the bulbs r good? Or do you mean only getting power to two of them?

Hi,

Looking at the Ele. schematics, the 72 model only has 2 "cluster illumination lamps". Are these the 2 bulbs you reference as working when you turn the headlights on?

One of the other bulbs should be the "high beam indicator" bulb. Then you should have a bulb for "left blinker" and Right blinker".
