Actually here. Keith is building up the factory literature pages again. He's up to 67-69 last i checked. Back when that was kicking he had the 73-79 stuff and those trucks were listed in the what was it oh yes the ford fun fleet. The books where listed to show all the special vehicles camper special and the super camper special. the 73' showed no mention of the wide rears. 74' said it was all the stuff touting it big in the pages. I ain't super smart or nothing just read a lot on these wagons back when i first got mine. I have some 73' literature here true paper stuff. if Keith don't get it up soon we can go over it. I miss mine but it's not too bad as it's at a great home, and Ron also got me my zf for the highboy and all my 4x4 stuff for the 94' dually. Still love me some scs though. Yours 390 460? Strangest one i saw was a 4 speed as every other i have seen where auto..

Huh, that's interesting. I'm genuinely interested. I just didn't know about the 73 not offering all the normal stuff I associate with super camper specials. I have seen mention of 390s with a four speed behind them. Mine is a ranger xlt with a 460 and c6. 22k original miles. Guy I bought it from had a huge camper on it that gave its life to save most of the truck from the weather. He got it when it was two years old. he put the camper on but didn't mention if he added the super singles and hubcaps or if they were already there, I just assumed they were already there. I will have to double check my gvw. Maybe I just assumed. :hmm:

That will either solve it or confuse us even more. These trucks kinda have a special mystique around them.

I did find a May of 1973 advert online that claimed 10k gvw for scs while scoping this out on my lunch maybe they were reffering to the next model year?. I'll see if i can save it and attach here. Could the 9.75 rear tire been associated with 9,500 and you got the super singles with the 10k? Yeah, i am almost afraid to go check mine out now, maybe I goofed on the year, maybe its a 74. Yeah mystic, like there is enough to be around and seen but not enough for everybody to definitively agree on what is what with them. Ive rolled through several threads on various forums when these pop up in conversation and its interesting to say the least. I happened across mine unintentionally but it ended up following me home anyway

So there is this, 1973, 10k gvw and optional super singles? Interesting though no mention of the 460 as an option but i have seen that listed as available for 73 on other adds.

Yeah totally correct on that all the 74' stuff i looked thru showed 10k GVW was only with the super singles. Now as to when they could be had in 73-74 heck I don't know. These trucks were special and supposed to take the slide in trucks to the next level. As you said so well the oil deal crashed that out and really held them back. The scs also lost the super camper special name after the supercab trucks came out. The 78-79's i know where just called a f350 camper special now super. Even though that is what they were. We are splitting hairs on the 73-74 super single deal, and this being Ford motor company we probably never will. Thing i can tell ya i love these things, and does not matter what scs you got shes still special and i'm proud for ya having one. Even though i had a "early 73'" (as such we call i guess  ) i still think they need super singles!
