. i have the original hood but the black one is rust free. so all i need is paint and a windshield. but the crack hasn't spread any so why bother it?

Beginners! Mine is split all the way across in a T shape. If you're gonna do it do it right!  

I have been driving Ford trucks since I have been driving. My first one ('62 Unibody shortbed) was the only one that had a good windshield. When I go and get parts trucks, yep the WS is cracked! I haven't got a ticket for it (just over 30yrs of driving) yet.

Put a new air cleaner on due to the old one was oily. also put on a set of gabriel ultra shocks on the back just to see if they made a difference. Now she doesn't bounce as bad. They came with one of the parts trucks so all i had invested was time.

i think the exhaust on this truck is doomed. i just put on my THIRD header after fighting leaks for months. rma'd the rma'd one and finally got something the mostly fits. i have one port that has a tiny leak but other than that everything is working better. Threw on a new set of car quest (prestolite) plug wires and a set of motorcraft copper core plugs too. Boy what a difference!  i finally found all the power i had from the last engine. It likes to decompress the front springs    .i did some digging into my ignition timing today and found out that i only have 8* of mechanical timing. is this normal? with vacuum it comes up to 32ish degrees but i was under the impression that you should have all but 6-8 degrees of vacuum advance and then the the mechanical should make up the difference.

for the love of god, why is a pedal mount swap so involved? it all starts with a squeaky clutch pedal and turned into 8 hours of headache. at first i thought that i had lost one or both of the nylon bushings in the bracket so i pulled out the clutch pedal and was just going to replace them with the one's out an auto assembly i had. well they were both intact. It was the aluminum? bushing retainers that had broken loose. so i just decided to swap out the whole bracket. i knew about the different length rod for the master cylinder because i had tried to swap the one off of my 69 onto there when the one on the 67 went toes up. but after going through the trouble of changing everything out i could find the rod.   . thankfully the auto brake pedal used the right style of brake light switch as the 67 and had the longer rod. also i had lost brake lights durring the swap and it turned out to be a corroded contact in the fuse block and not a lose wire plug like we thought for a couple hours. in the end i have squeak free pedals and a helper spring on the clutch that was missing before.

So you won? Did you try talking nicely to the truck before you started? That usually helps when I start a project.

i thought we were on good terms. guess fixing vacuum leaks and putting in fresh plugs was enough for some cars. apparently not. i'll try nice words next time.

Oh this is your first Ford truck isn't it? Once you start fixing things they expect you to fix everything & get impatient about it. If you would have just left well enough alone it would have went on forever as they never want to die. Fixing something gives it hope that it will once again be as good as it's glory days of new.

Jealousy works wonders. When it gives you problems drive something else making sure the truck knows you are driving something else. "See here what you got? I have a new favorite" Sometimes that helps.
