My latest acquisition. You say to yourself "Big deal tail light lenses". These are '64-'66 Styleside lenses. They are the same lens as a bump but lack the white backup area. We shall see how the old bump looks all red.

Cool! But what to do about back up lights? I thought about putting some in my rear bumper but I kinda hate to carve holes in my brand new chromed one.

No backup lights. My truck is pretty illegal for the road but most of it goes unnoticed. No wipers, no rear bumper. I had made a list of all the "wrongs" for the state of IN when I lived there. Now I am in states that require a front plate so add that to the list. :D The beauty of older vehicles is the lack of knowledge by the younger police officers. They have no idea when seat belts became mandatory in a vehicle. Backup lights will be another. '67 was the first year. It is all about the "look" for me. I may not like it and put the original lenses back in. We shall see.

Thanks for the welcome but Wednesday we are moving to TN. Yes we moved to OH so my wife could have time with her dad. We are now headed to TN and setting up to be there for awhile. Looks like Clarksville. We have the freedom of not having to be any specific place. We have outgrown OH. Nothing wrong with OH just not feeling right for us.

Funny, I'm about to start tearing down my '72 for a CV IFS and TBird IRS. I'll be doing it at my dad's in Crofton, KY, just right up the road from Clarksville, and my fiance lives in Centerville, OH, just right down the road from Kettering. Small world.

Well I am 95%+ certain we are going to chop the top. A guy I know in Chattanooga has a roof off of a not worth salvaging cab. It will be between 2 & 4". I am playing with the idea of something in the roof like a ribbed section. I had thought about the center of a '57 hood. The rear facing scoop from a '58 Impala also came to mind.

Any ideas?

Do you plan on cutting the windsheild glass or just sinking it lower?

I plan on cutting all the glass including the slider. I want to maintain the same basic shape of the cab just bring the roof down a little.

After looking at the two threads on chopping the top here I will say I am not following either route. I am going to cut mine right in the middle of the windows. The rear pillar of the cab grows in width as it climbs. I plan on cutting the upper portion off the back of the cab about 4" in. I will then narrow it as needed and weld it back in.

I am leaning towards using a slick hood as a donor roof panel. I will turn it around so the front of the hood is the rear of the cab. The windshield pillars will remain at the same angle. The only issue now is cut down the wing windows or go to a one piece door glass.
