Postby mark F-100 on Sat Sep 11, 2010 12:40 pm

Finally started putting the truck back together, got my motor back from the shop this week. Had the transmission re-built, all new brake lines, brake drums, shoes, new coil springs, and shocks.

There Headman headers. Model # 89140 for 73-79 dents but they fit our bumps to. Tight fit on starter side but still room, I wrapped the starter with heat shield just to be safe. Can't wait to fire up 429 and hear it purrrrr.

D1VE block is at least '71, but prior to '79. Are the pistons stock?

Had the block bored 30 thou. Just ordered  right sized pistons. The new ones are what I would call flat top. There a little diff. from orig. Your right Bobby, I forgot I got the motor from  a friend of my dads for 75$ out of a 71 merc 27 years ago.
