Still, moving along at a steady pace!
Are you in the market for stainless West Coast Jr. hardware? There is a guy that sells them by the set, specifically for those mirrors, and his price is around $50 USD, which is an unbeatable price. Even comes with the studded cap bolts that are impossible to find!
If you're interested I could find some contact info for you.

Looking great Steve, I was hoping you were going to mount the lower trim with the wheel well trim to see how that looked. Not sure how I missed this last update of yours????
Could you do me a favor and measure the holes along the bottom of the box for me as I need to drill those on my box?
Enjoying your build!!! :pop:

Thanks for the offer  - I'll have to pull a mirror apart to appreciate the amount of hardware I need. Let me check out Fastenal and the other bolt place first - the problem with getting stuff in from the USA is that shipping, duties and taxes negate any cost advantage. By the time I get that $50 USD piece here, I'm looking at $100 CAD in the end.

If I can get my work work done, I might be able to get to Fastenal this afternoon...

Hey Willy! The trim on your truck is probably the wider 2.75" trim used on the Ford/Merc Rangers from 67-69, and Sport Customs 70-72. The 70-72 Rangers and Ranger XLT used a narrower trim that was single stripe, and 1.75" wide, and the bigger difference is the narrower trim package does not have trim behind the rear wheel. I suspect the holes are placed a bit differently due to the difference in trim width. Regardless, I'd be happy to provide the measurements if you wish.

Check out: http://fordification.com/tech/trim.htm

Nope - you didn't miss the lower trim install, as I need to polish and remove a few dings from that lower trim (still in good shape, and this stuff isn't available repop and $$$$ as NOS). Polishing means removing the anodizing, so I've scheduled (...yes, I have a schedule of tasks posted in the garage for this build) this for when the weather warms up and I can spray Easy-Off sodium hydroxide and allow for chemical reactions when I have the garage door open. The trim will be practice for the grille, which will be practice for the toughest piece, being the XLT tailgate panel that needs a couple dings removed along with polish and paint and 3M DI-NOC Marine Teak vinyl...

You have a good looking truck that is coming together rather fast.
I have a red 72 Ranger XLT short bed and I like all the things you have done to your truck.
Please keep the good pictures , information & updates coming.
Thanks again and good luck.
Thanks for the kind words and motivation CrazyHorse :fr: I'll have to thumb through this site when I get time and find some pics of your bump. I like the SB red XLT's. There was one they used in the Desperate Housewives TV show, which I found for sale at the Imperial Palace car showroom in Vegas when I was there in about 2005. Long gone, but I think it was a good deal and loaded up with every possible option.

I think you are right on the sizing but the placement of the holes should be close is my guess, better than what I would guess for sure! LMC shows all the same for 67-72 on the lower trim pieces.
So if not too much trouble would appreciate it.

Tackling the doors this week, and starting with the vent windows:

Image

Image
No wonder I had so much trouble rolling down the driver’s side window...check out the piled up rubber from the division bar! :hmm:

Image
Mark the division bar for reinstallation...

Image
Pull the division bar straight down to get it apart. Wear gloves!

Image
I didn’t have a small enough punch to get this roll pin out, so made due with a drill bit.

Image
5 rivets need to be drilled out to get the vent rubber off.

Image
Disassembled, masked and ready for gloss black paint...

Image
Final paint turned out well. I’ll leave to cure in the warm basement before installing seals.

Would you care to list what you used to paint the vent window assemblies? I currently have mine apart and am ready to paint them as soon as the weather warms up a little here.

Mine appeared to be gloss black originally. I wanted a tough enamel that has some UV protection, so I went with rattle can Dupli Color black gloss wheel paint. Not sure if it’s enamel, as rattle can companies rarely label that anymore. I ended up with a few dust specks, but no runs or sags that I can see. :D
