Getting the old 240 out. My dad is threatening to upgrade his 8N with it ;)

I'm calling this adventure "Project Scar Face". As solid as the body is, it looks like the hood got smacked with a chain. We used some gently pulling to get most of the denting smooth and then finished with solder and some light filler. Hood is coming along nicely now.

A far cry from the sun burned dented mess we started with.

Sorry man. I'm not a patina kind of guy. My dad had his own paint shop so she's going to be more shiny than new. :)

Picked up my donor tonight. 2004 Crown. :)

Wow does that hood latch have paint on it or did you just rinse the vinegar off ? That looks brand new. I'm gonna have to try that out!

Sweet hood latch! How long did it soak? I'd like to move away from phosphoric acid and wire brushes myself (which is my current method).

I soaked it for about 48 hours and then took a soft wire wheel on a drill to clean the residue off. For the parts I couldn't reach I lightly hit it with a gravity feed sandblaster and now I'm going to powder coat it. There is no paint on it now. Just beautiful new looking steel. My dad is a career Auto body guy. Had his own shop. He can't believe how well it works. No toxic fumes. I'm really pleased. Have done more parts since.

I have done both the vinegar and the battery charge with washing soda or baking soda.

Sorry for the long delay between posts. I find uploading pictures really cumbersome which caused me to lose interest. We also bought and house and moved since my last update so time has been harder to come by. Transferring an acreage is a big job I never want to do again. As for the truck, we got the motor/trans out of the Crown Vic and the crossmember is sitting under my truck waiting to be installed permanently. The front fenders and rear fenders are nearly ready for paint as is the hood. The cab and doors still need a fair amount of tlc. I backed into the box and pushed it into a tree. Not my finest moment. I will likely have to replace the front panel of the box.

I have entered the world of powder coating and so far have powder coated my hood catch and hood hinges as well as seat brackets and a few other small pieces. I picked up a set of bullitt wheels from a Mustang and have sandblasted them. Sadly they don't fit in my oven so I will likely just paint them.

I have also picked up a second truck for interior pieces etc... It's a 1971 250 with a seized 360.

If you have any questions I will try and answer them. If you want a picture of something specific I will do my best.

Slow as I'm mostly working on the house and the -40 temps are wreaking havoc on my cars. Got my parts truck home yesterday. It's a styleside and my son wants me to use that box. I'm seriously considering designing a quick change system so I can enjoy both box styles. We'll see what happens. My dad is a retired body man and is threatening to start welding tomorrow. We'll see what happens. Thanks for asking.
