Hey Monkey did you find the marking on the crank? Was it 2U?

I didn’t, I measured the stroke and and got a depth of +3 5/8”

I can look closer though.

FE/FT engine displacements
Displacement Type Bore+0.0036/-0.0000 Stroke+/-0.004
352 cu in (5.8 L) FE 4.0000 in (101.60 mm) 3.500 in (88.9 mm)
360 cu in (5.9 L) FE 4.0500 in (102.87 mm) 3.500 in (88.9 mm)
390 cu in (6.4 L) FE 4.0500 in (102.87 mm) 3.784 in (96.1 mm)
406 cu in (6.7 L) FE 4.1300 in (104.90 mm) 3.784 in (96.1 mm)
410 cu in (6.7 L) FE 4.0500 in (102.87 mm) 3.984 in (101.2 mm)
427 cu in (7.0 L) FE 4.2328 in (107.51 mm) 3.784 in (96.1 mm)
428 cu in (7.0 L) FE 4.1300 in (104.90 mm) 3.984 in (101.2 mm)

These are the strokes for the FE series engines. 3 5/8" doesn't fit. You need to see the mark on the crank to be sure. I am pulling for you though and hope you see the 2U stamp.

Man! It’s been a little bit, and a lot is happening on the updates since I last posted. As I was talking about in this post earlier, I was having some heart ache on taking a good running truck and tearing it down for parts. So I kind of put that on hold, and start keeping my eye out for a better parts truck. To my surprise when I end up finding was a combo deal of somebody looking to sell a 1967 F100 partnered with a 1971 F250 that had interior burned out of it with a fire. I bought both of those, and sold the first 1971 that I had shown you guys earlier.

Today I spent the day removing the front grill and assembly, along with the bumper that will end up going on my grandfathers F250.

The really exciting part, is that the new 71’ That I just got, has a motor in it that looks like somebody’s done some performance work to it. Even though the interior has been burned out, the truck still runs great, and sounds great! So I’m really excited to be able to just pull this motor over and put it directly in my F250 but I’m building.

Here’s some photos below.

Here are a couple photos of the 1967, I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with her yet, she has a tire 352 and still runs, but she’s really clean & dent free so I might just keep her in turn her into a little bit of a 2wd hot rod. Or sell her for cash to put into the 72 4x4

Fixed up the front grill today! Everything is used and cleaned up. Not perfect, but not too shabby. Here’s a few before and afters!

I continue to be fascinated how much you guys all pick up on!!!! When I bought the truck he told me about putting the fan on backwards. I haven’t ran the motor longer than 2 min, and it’s getting pulled soon, so I wasn’t worried about it :)

Just a wee...too much brown bottle "inspiration" involved with that project I'd say.
A winch should never be used like that, (coming from a guy who has seen chains and winch cables snap miles off the asphalt-almost killing guys)!
Another vote to scrap the axle shafts, (the pitting on those are deep-if you magnafluxed them you'd probably see rust almost to the center of the shaft I'd bet). And you can get new ones reasonably without "breaking the bank". You do not want the axle shaft snapping in a time of need-coming from a guy who has witnessed the struggle of getting the vehicle back to the trailer on three "legs" using a cypress stump chained to the front knuckle driving in reverse through a mile of Florida swamp! :(

Edit: You've came a long...ways this should make your family very proud to see the truck being resurrected!

Wanted to thank Matthew and Aaron for the products I bought from them recently. Helped me get the bumper attached today. The only part I’m struggling with is getting it close to level. I typically leave the bolts loose and tighten everything down once everything is threaded, but the carriage bolt the the bumper are impossible to get an impact gun on. This isn’t like most of your front bumpers where the holes are the holes and that’s it. There are 8 total bolts and the most “flexible” holes are tucked up behind the frame and leaf springs. Thoughts?

I have a ‘71 250 That I’m going to pull the axels from and out in the 72. I have to double check, but I think it’s the same rear end.
