1972 F250

Post by foxhound1972 »

I picked this up Saturday: 1972 F250 390 4 speed. Run and drives, stops pretty good also. Drove it almost 300mi home. The plan is to move the body to the '70 4X4 chassis. I've had Fords all my life, but this is my first of this vintage. So a few questions, What have you done to your truck that you really like, what do wish you hadn't done, what's on your wish list. Looking for '78, '79 Dana 44 as we speak. If I get a steering column from a '78, '79 will it be as long as whats in there now? I'm 6'3" the wheel is about 10" from my chest. Any knowledge you want to impart me with, I will gladly take. The 4X4 has a NP435 the 2 wheel has a T-18 I believe, which do you think is better? Has anyone put a toploader in a 4X4? Thanks for your time and help, Troy

This will be fun to watch I can't get enough of the highboys! I'd recommend upgrading the charging system with the 3G swap. Front axle like your doin is a good upgrade. Lots of guys love disc break upgrades. Sometimes the simple stuff like a nice radio makes the ride the best. Good luck !

Hope to see this project move forward!! My favorite transmission is the NP435 in my opinion. You would be very happy with it. Let us see what you got going!! :fr:
