Every truck has just one bolt like this...what is it used for?

Is it the bolt for the coupler on the steering shaft?

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

Yep, you got it, Thunderfoot! That's the bolt that holds the rag joint to the steering box input shaft. For those who don't know, the steering box shaft has a notch in it to clear this bolt, and securely locks it on.

Sheesh....11 minutes! That's gotta be a new record! Of course, I kinda figured that one was, for some. ;)

:woohoo: :woohoo: :lol: That was a guess, as I haven't actually taken the one on my truck apart yet, but that is the same bolt on my 68 mustang steering... Only bolt with 12 point head on it that I could think of :lol:

You wouldnt believe how long it took me to find the socket that fit that bolt when i was disasembling my 68 f250. I almost gave up on saving the ps off that truck because of that bolt.

If you have a 11 mm it takes it off so does a 12 point 3/8s
