Holes in A pillar

Post by duaneo »

Folks,

This isn't my truck (Mine is a 71 in a lovely shade of gold) but the picture here:

http://www.wheatfarm.com/f100/pictures/ford2.jpg

shows what I'm talking about. In the A pillar below and to the left of the dome light switch, there is a hole for mounting something. It looks like a 7/8" hole with a couple of screw mounts on either side. I've seen what looks like a blank plate mounted there. Is it a contact for electric power inside the door?

Do you know what it's for? I'm totally curious.

Thanks,
Duane

That hole is for the AMBIENT SENSOR SWITCH.
I have one on my 72 F100 Ranger.

IIIIIIInteresting! What system is it a part of?

Ironically that's right next to where I stuck the exterior temp sensor for my fancy-dancy clock/inside temp/outside temp/voltage device.

Thanks,
Duane
