1967 gas tank

Post by nic6194 »

I have a 1967 f-100 and the pick up tube in the gas tank is blocked. I found a local guy that was going to sell me his gas tank out of a 1957 f100 does anyone know if it work. If not what years would work?

have no idea on the 1957. but years that will work are 1967-1972 some '73's and '74's still had tank in cab that I have seen here in TEXAS.
no might be a good time to relocate out of cab if you have time and inclination. Good luck.

I just checked LMC's site, and the gas tanks for the '57-60 and '61-72 trucks have different part numbers.

You can't clear the blockage with compressed air?

I had a similar issue on my 67 f100, cleared the blockage and it plugged right back up. Fuel in the tank had developed a lacquer film on top that slowly clogged the lines over time. Went with a new system from LMC, no regrets, simple install in cab.

You need a 67-69 with 5/16" fuel lines. 70ish and up they used 3/8". There's also a mounting bolt change at that time, early ones slid into the bottom and had fewer (if memory serves) top bolts, late ones bolted in top and bottom.
