Muffler Clean Up

Post by massillon preacher »

I have a truck I got has set dual flowmaster 40's in pretty good condition, just a couple small surface rust areas. What should I use to clean it up and I'd like to paint the pipes and mufflers, has any one done this with high temp paint? What is your recommendation to clean and paint if can be done. While I have rear out and bed off perfect time to get it looking all new if I can.

Just surface rust?

Are you taking them off the truck first... ? If so, you can soak in evapo-rust for a day or two. Or just clean up by hand with wire brush or wire wheel. Then paint with VHT Ceramic added High-Temp. It's great stuff.

You could rub in tome CLR before paint too.. Just let it dry good before painting.
