Stock 390 Air Filter

Post by pchelp101 »

Can anyone give me the correct PN for the OEM air filter on my 390 ? I searched online and came up with the Fram CA324A, it has the correct diameter but its about 3/8 in too tall.

Go to NAPA online and search for the filter for your vehicle-a bunch will come up. You can click on each one and see the measurements for each dimension.

I have used many filters made by Wix, but never Wix-branded filters. Perhaps you have too. Confused yet?

Wix manufactures NAPA-branded filters. They also market filters under their own name. They make filters for a wide variety of vehicles and industrial applications.

I have used NAPA-branded filters for many years without any troubles. I generally use "gold" ones on modern vehicles and the cheaper ones on the old trucks. Napa sells them at three price points: gold, silver, and pro select. I suspect that the lowest priced "pro select" units are comparable to FRAM, STP and Purolator filters commonly found in discount stores.

If my memory is correct, the NAPA part numbers for filters are based on the Wix part numbers, so you can cross-reference them. I have never seen Wix-branded filters in stores in my area, only online, and when I factored in convenience and shipping charges, NAPA-brand filters were a better deal for me. Wix or NAPA, you can't go wrong.

Around here i have a white brothers auto parts that sells wix. Then the other main holder would be o'reilly auto parts. Now Napa yes is made by wix. drop your first digit from the wix number to get a napa. Wix 51515 oil filter for ford FL1A. At Napa 1515 napa gold. Stick to the golds from napa or the true wix. You have wix XP which is like Platinum Napa. I have used them with good sucess. Never had an issue. I dislike fram hate STP or microguard. Stick to purolator-Wix-Motorcraft-Bosch you are good. By the way Bosch and purolator are the same stuff. Also the Motorcrafts are made by purolator for ford. Just as for motor oil is conocophillips kendall. Yeah sorry went nerdie there. I have 20 different oil filters cut open here need to do a thread on it. :D
