oil pickup tube torque specs

Post by madtom »

I'm wondering if anyone can provide torque spec for the bolts connecting the oil pickup tube to the oil pump? Its a 1972 360 F250 four wheel drive.
My rebuild manual doesn't list a recommendation for them and a google search didn't help any. I do have the specs for oil pump to block.

Also, should these two bolts have lock washers? I only ask because so far, they're the only two bolts on the inside of the engine with lock washers and I want to be sure I'm not mixing anything up.

I used the yellow "Big-Block Ford Engines" book. It says oil pump and pickup tubes are both 12 - 15 ft-lbs. It didn’t say one way or the other about lock washers, and I can't remember whether mine had them or not. Maybe you can find an engine schematic that shows it in the tech section.
