Popular body style

Post by trukcrazy »

What is the most popular body style here? No distinction between 2WD and 4WD or weight class in this poll. This can be what you own now, have owned in the past, would like to own or just what you like best. :D

I like all our trucks...that said, I think the long wheel base regular cab regular bed thingy is the quintessential pickup, and that's what I'm after.

I know it's not really a big deal, but I always have thought, too, that if you're going to have a pickup, it should have a long bed. But that's just me. :D

I kinda like the short stepsides, too, but they seem like a throwback to an earlier time, and if I'm going to go early, I really want it to be early, cab, front end, everything.

Standard cab LWB Styleside.
To me, if you can't throw some 4X8's of plywood in the bed and close the tailgate, it just ain't a pickup.

I guess my choice was obvious
but other than that I gotta agree, a truck is to haul things in, and a LWB tops a SWB every time! (sorry Keith :D )

Ok I guess I'll defend the SWB. I got my truck in hopes to someday make it look good again and I won't be hauling anything in it. Besides that SWB is easier to park.

If you can't put a full sheet of plywood in it with the tailgate up ... then it's just a toy :D Needless to say I have a long bed!

I plan on mine being a toy. If I need to haul anything I'll borrow a junk chevy from someone. My short bed will be hauling nothing but arse when completed.

I own a long wide, but a short bumpside sure gets my attention. It has enough functionality to meet my needs. With the tailgate down, it'll still haul enough stuff for me, ya just gotta take off slower.

I voted for the stepside its got that retro classic look of yesterdays ford and because its got that potential sport look that can haul ass given the right set up. I have a long bed and a stepside both are 67 and there both toys and haulers. 8)

Overall, I prefer shortbeds, and usually stepsides
at that...I just like the old "classic" look...
If I was going to build up a street toy, I always
prefer a short step...Just feel sportier to me...
But...For work, a full bed does have it's plusses...
Both my 68 and 74 are long beds...But my 68 is
a mutant with a utility bed..."7.5 ft long" I'm not positive what
it had from the factory, but it's probably 95% it was
a usual straightside...They did make a F-250 longbed
stepside though...If I ever were to dump the ute bed,
my first choice would be to try to find a long step side
bed...pretty rare... But it would be cool...
If you look at both my trucks, the 68 gives the slight
impression of being a little shorter, which it is just a bit..
But the camper shell on top of the ute bed, adds to
that effect.. Makes it look slightly "blazerish" or whatever..
Naturally, it sits taller than the 74 also, being a F-250 with
max 7500lb springs...
My 74, with it's stock long bed, and big 70's era camper,
looks like the average old fart, bass fishermans camper rig...
Or something like that...MK

I'm not voting because I like them all. Never had much use for a short stepside, just no room in the bed. I am liking the crewcab alot but it takes 40 acres to turn the darn thing. I can't even get through the bank driveup with out curb hopping. I really like an 8 foot bed on my daily driver. My 72 F-250 single cab was perfect, except the cab was always full of junk. I had one shortbed and liked it fine but still had the old 72 for serious work.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
