are the newer rad supports,73- 79 galvanized metal?Am doing the aprons,and it looks like I might as well do the rad support as well on the 68. Thanks guys

No...the inner fenders are galvanized, the radiator core support is just painted. However, it's still MUCH easier to find one of these in better shape than one from our era. There are some minor mods necessary when using the '73-'79 core support on a '67-'72. I've outlined those in a tech article called The Great Radiator Support Swap.

Keep in mind that when you use the '73-'79 inner fenders, there are also some slight mods necessary. You'll have to use the '73-'79 firewall mounting brackets and hood hinges. The brackets will need the mounting holes widened out in order to use all three bolts on each side.
