Cool Rear End Cover Idea

Postby cbfomoco on Thu Nov 05, 2009 8:14 pm

I was searching ebay and ran across a GMC dump truck that I was looking at the hoist on. ( I am wanting a dump bed and have been looking at all the different set ups. ) Anyway This truck had a cool rear end cover. I would love for someone to make one of these for fords with Ford script. And Also for front ends as well. If Anybody knows of one let me know.

Get good with a welder, and you may be able to put a logo on a 9  inch!  That'd be cool.  Just weld on the back of the rearend where a pan would be on other axles.

That would probably warp the cover,(welding)maybe not, that is a tough old 12 bolt on that GMC.

^ that's what i was going to say.
Welding on a cover will most likely warp it and it will be hard to get it to seal right. Be careful :D

If we're talking about welding on a 9 inch you don't need to wory about warping or sealing. The rear cover is already welded to the axle housing. Or did I mis something?

Yes, the 9" cover is welded on, can't hurt it by welding more on it.  The gears and carrier come out the front on a 9" Ford rear, one of it's greatest advantages.

You're right, i thought the topic was just about rearends like the Dana 60 that have a removable rear cover
