Shifter popping out

Post by ahgrafx »

Since I don't have a choice I don't know exactly what Hardware is supposed to be in place to keep the shifter stick in place it pulls right out has a couple Dome pieces on top of a spring that just pulls right out of the hole any diagrams or suggestions to fix this would be greatly appreciated and where everyone gets their Chilton's cuz it doesn't seem to be for sale at any auto store locally thanks

Some more information, and pictures, might help you to get some advice.

I doubt they sell Chiltons or Haynes manuals for these trucks any more. I have one, bought used from an eBay seller, and it is not terribly useful.
The best manual as far as I know is the Ford shop manual, which you can find in electronic form at the following website.

https://www.hipoparts.com/1964-72-ford- ... atalog-cd/

It has wiring diagrams and also expanded diagrams of every system on the truck.

You can also find many relevant diagrams on this site. Find the expanded diagram, puzzle over it until you figure out what you are looking at, zoom in on it to find the parts, and then do google searches on the part numbers.

Boneyard,Ford and Dodge both used the 435 and the shift towers should be the same.
