c6 to t19 swap

Post by mouse »

The c6 on my 390 is down for the count and am going to do a swap, so a t19 seems to be the best candidate. I have ordered a t19 out of a 86 f350 with a diesel that there would be a good chance of it being the 4.02 over the 5.11 ratio. I also found the clutch and brake pedals, they come with rods and z bar off a sbf. all I have found for a fe is the engine side bracket, need to find out about the z bar and find the frame bracket. there is plenty of bellhousing on ebay but will wait to see if one comes up with a fork that does not cost a arm and a leg. the drive shaft would be the other thing I need to figure out

got the matching pedals in and have them fitted. the the return spring I got needs to be about a inch shorter than seven and five eighths. one that came with the pedal set happened to be longer than what could work in my truck. I got the t19 in a few days ago and its the 4.02 ratio, I have ordered some more stuff as well for this swap

I got a rebuild kit presoaked in baggys, E4OD/c6 mix parts core and a b&m kit in a valve body sitting in storage. yes I could finish off getting the parts for a strong c6 rebuild like forward and direct drum for more disks. I would like to have a lower rpm running down the highway and Im not a automatic fan. this t19 I got gives what looks to be a good ratios for 4 forward gears to go against a 3:1 rear, and cant be any worse than the t18 I swapped for last time. this is not the first time I have shot craps with a c6 and lost.

here are photos of some the stuff I have acquired over the past week. I found a old new condition of what looks to be a steel flywheel. I came to a concession to get a ram hdx clutch kit that would be good enough for more power mods to the engine. I also got arp bolts for the flywheel and clutch pressure plate. I got what i believe is the correct z bar and engine side bracket, waiting on a posible frame side bracket. got a bellhousing for a truck fe and a new fork. I still need to get down to the junkyard to see if I can find a driveshaft.
