Bell Housing Comptability

Post by CamperSpecial66 »

Not sure if questions about 1966 are aloud here but maybe I can get some help! My father has been building and repairing his classic fords since he was 16, he recommended I pay close attention to this website.

On the other hand I just bought a 1966 Camper Special, 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic F250 at a ridiculously good price. The bell housing is cracked, trashed. On craigslist I found a guy who has a BH that was in a 1965 F250 4x4 4 speed manual, np 435 352ci. Casting number is C5TA-7505-C. In all honesty I'm not very knowlegable when it comes to the specific details of vehicles. Don't know what the ci means in 352ci, don't know what np435 is. I just need to know it it's compatible. I can provide more information on my rig if needed. Thanks much for reading

Google anything you have a question about first. That will help answer most of them and give you a basis to understand replies you get.

I would think you would just need to find the same bell housing off another cruis-o-matic to replace your broken one if it detaches from the transmission. some automatics do some dont. the ci in 352ci refers to Cubic Inches of displacement. the np435 is a manual transmission np stands for New Process. The company of manufacture. My first thought is that the BH off the np435 would not be compatible with a cruise-o-matic. I could be wrong. somebody should jump in if i am. :wel: :fr:

Yeah 435 ain't going to do it for you. How much is it cracked. Being cruise o matic it's aluminum? Or cast iron like old FMX? (Basketcase can clear me up on that. If it is the aluminum housing there is a chance that it could be welded and reinforced. Just curious how bad the damage is. :?

I did a quick search on ebay and came up with a couple housings for sale. They are not too expensive if yours is not repairable.

Not sure what it's made of as of today. The truck's still sitting up at the previous owners house. I will post post pictures as soon as we get it down the hill and to my place!

One of these images near the bottom is the crack and the missing inspection plate. Anyone know where to get said inspection plate? The BH is aluminum and my dad is a welder and says he can fix the bell housing no problem!
