C6 trans ID-tag decoding help

Post by sinnedspeedshop »

I have a FE C6 trans that I'm planning on rebuilding. So that I can purchase an appropriate rebuild kit etc., I need help ID-ing the C6's year. Can someone give me a hand, please. The ID-tag on it has the following info:

1975 is the year the ddoes what tells u that the letter d decodes the decade the parts were made
C=1960s
D=1970s
E=1980s
U get the picture and the number after the d indicates the year of the decade.
D5=1975
C8=1968
Hope this helps that's as about as much as I remember decoding numbers on ford parts
1969 ford f100 351w aod
1967 f250 4x4 351c m50d

Hmmm....1975 but possibly a 1976....do I need to worry about it during my rebuild of the C6?
