Rebuilt booster firewall seal?

The rebuilt brake booster I purchased (Cardone) has a rubber boot type seal but the base of that seal is just flat as if it is intended to be for a booster that mounts directly to the firewall rather than the bracket like the bumps have.  And the 'corrugated' portion of the seal fits tightly between those brackets so thus it doesn't even reach the firewall.  In essence, neither end of the seal is in contact with its intended sealing surface.  Our bumps come from the factory with a plastic sleeve to fill that gap between the booster and the firewall but it won't fit over this rubbr seal either.  So it appears I just need to cut the new rubber seal off, throw it away and use the old plastic sleeve although it probably won't really seal tight.  Any other thoughts or suggestions??  What have others done??

Here's a transition piece pulled from a '72 F250 C/S.
Measures 2-1/4" dia. big end, small is 1-5/8". Overall length is about 3-1/4".
My '72 has a different piece held on by the booster-brackets, almost reaches the boot on the booster.
Does this in the photo look like it will work?

That looks similar to the original sleeve on mine except mine might only have one change in size.  But the replacement has a rubber boot like this

I had installed an 8-3/4" dia. Bendix dual-diaphragm booster in my '69 F100 Ranger last week. I got the booster (core) & firewall bracket from a 1975 Ford F350 1-ton truck.

It had the plastic tube between the back of the booster to the firewall. The rebuilt booster I got from O'Reillys came with a rubber boot. I took the rubber boot off and reused the plastic tube.

Can you add a brake booster to 4/w drum brakes?  I heard it was a bolt on,

That is what I did to my truck. The booster is just a force multiplier. The booster doesn't know if you have 4-wheel drums, discs front/drums rear, or if you have 4-wheel discs.
