Installed drop kit 1968 Ford F-100

Postby teachmz on Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:37 pm

I recently installed 3" dropped i-beams into the front of my 1968 Ford F-100.  Everything has gone in correctly as far as I can tell, however the distance between the tire and the wheel well is about an inch in difference.  (see photograph)  I am trying to figure out how this could have happened.  Are the I-beams installed backwards or is there some simple fix to get the alignment of tires correct.  I have not had the back dropped yet, and will not until I get this issue resolved.  Once the front and the back have been dropped, then I will have the truck aligned.  If you have any suggestions on how I might fix this, please help.

Upload to photobucket and link.

Use another program to crop and reduce dpi setting?

If ya use DJM beams, ya might wanna know that DJMs are side-specific.

Also, if ya replaced the radius arm bushings, they take like 80 to 120 lbs of torque. Tightened?

Lastly, roll the truck backwards about 5 feet and they roll it forward to its original spot. The suspension/beams could be in a bind and causing the funky measurements.

I would guess you have them on the wrong side without actually seeing the truck. Seems a bit too tight to be radius arm bushings unless I am reading the pics incorrectly.

The top of the beam(neck) where the king pins are installed should be tilted towards the rear of the truck. If they are not and are facing the front, the beams are on the wrong side.
