F-100 VS F-250 4x4 Front Axle

Post by Customize »

I just wanted to verify that while the F-100 4wd front axle used coil springs, the F-250 4wd front axle used leaf springs. Thanks!

You're right. The only exception to this was the 78-79 F-150 4x4 supercab which used leaf springs.

Dustin I've never owned one, but didn't the slick side half tons use leaf springs up front? I thought they did but can't remember. Doug

I'm not sure what a slickside is, but the 1961-66 trucks did have coil springs starting in 1965. Although, I am not sure if that was on both the 2wd and 4wd trucks. Every generation before that had leaf springs.

Sorry, forgot 66 WAS the first year for coils on the F-100 4x4. Before that they were leaf sprung too.
