dome light door switches

Post by takehikes »

I'm tired of my cab being dark all the time on my 68.
Anyone make a kit with door switches for the dome light?
My guess is it would probably plug right in somewhere to the harness.
A little help.......

The switch itself is readily available, probably even at your local parts store. DC has 'em for sure http://dennis-carpenter.com/dome-light- ... Z-13713-C/ The problem is the bracket that screws into the door frame. The switch itself could just be mounted by drilling a hole but it'll never reach the door. Found this info over on "the dark side".

Great info and thanks.
Had no idea you had to have a bracket. I figured it was plug and play with a switch and wiring. Guess not!

Just about every car/truck from the 60s and into the early 80s had something similar. Roam your local salvage yard and you'll probably find something that will work for a bracket.

The switches are available at most of the on-line old Ford parts houses. C&G has Autolite marked switches most of the others have the plain unmarked ones. I just found out that my passenger one was dead and that the drivers side one has been the source of a body squeak I could not find. Put a little grease on the end of it an no more annoying squeak.
