F600 to a F100 ?

Post by Cipher43 »

Hello all. I searched alittle earlier on this and only found someone saying it might be possible but wondered if anyone has done this and if so any pics of it. I have a f600 that has been used as a fire truck I might be able to get a few parts off of. Its doors, cab, and hood are in pristine condition and want to use as much as I can.
Thanks
Greg

I have a '71 F-500 and a '67 F-250. I don't see anything that would be a problem with swapping those items over.
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

or, money.

Here's a link to a post I started some time ago. I've done several F500 to F150 setups very easy. http://fordification.com/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=74443

Ditto. I don't think much crosses over directly. I have an unmolested F600 dash face in mine and had to modify it for the column. The front and bottom of the cab is different. Glass is the same as are the doors if you don't mind dealing with the extra bolt holes. Hood is the same as is the seat.

I'd suggest taking a couple leafs out of the springs and running the F500 with a normal truck bed.

Just curious what did you have to modify on the column for the F600 gauge cluster as I have done several and they where perfect fit. No modifications to the truck itself just have to add in the blinker to the F600 cluster wire harness. Also for 67-69 the plug is the same so no modifying the truck wire harness.

I'm still running the stock '71 cluster. I swapped out the whole front of the dash and had to cut it out to fit the column. The big trucks have the column bolt to the bottom of the dash. Small trucks have the dash sit over the column.

Do you know what year the fire truck is. As the gauges and bezel changed some in 70. Does it have Orange or White needles. I hope you use the F600 cluster for your truck. If not don't let it go to the scrap yard. There are plenty of people like that style.

They told me it is a 68 or 69 but they were not for sure. If they decide its all good i will probably pull the whole cab and take hood for sure. then I can get the seat and gauges and all. This truck has spent its life setting in the station most of its life and doesn't have that many miles on it.

Is the hump shorter because it kinda looks like it.

The hump is shorter as the frame rails are taller and drive train sits lower the access hole for trans is much larger I think you could cut the f 600 cover to take the pickup trans cover and get the height needed for the trans :2cents:
