!971 Hood Swap

Post by RustRed »

I have a friend who is trading me side marker lights for an old rusted hood with the Ford letters. Hood I believe to be a 1966 or 64, it has a flat angled spot for an emblem in the front edge center of hood.
Will it swap to my 1971 F-103 with out doing many modifications. I am hoping all I need is hinges from a 64 or 66 to install on my truck.

Thank-you Ranchero. Haven't received such a definitive "NOPE" recently. I like the straight forward response, seems so definite, like don't waste your time even trying.
I would also like to know how do you remove the Ford letters. It appears there is a small collar around the pegs sticking through the hood. Do these unscrew? How do I remove letters so I can reuse them?

The letters are retained by "barrel nuts" and they will come out if you gently pry the letter away from the hood. Work close to the actual pin and take your time it is easy to breaK the letters as they are only pot metal. You will more than likely need new barrle nuts to reinstall the letters. I have found thathe the plastic pry set from harbor freight works good for taking the letters off. Good luck

Barrel nuts should turn off with a 3/8 nut driver. Same for the side emblems but I forget the size. If you pry you risk the chance of breaking the mounting stud.
