Rear bumper mounting brackets - step vs. standard chrome bumper

Post by Bullitt74 »

I have a '72 F100 with the factory step bumper - I'm thinking of going with the standard chrome rear bumper.

Does anyone know if the mounting brackets work for both types of bumpers?

I'm afraid not. The step bumper has the bolts mounted on vertical plates welded to the back of the bumper. The sport bumper has carriage head bolts monted to the top/bottom of the bumper. It requires special mounting brackets available wherever the bumpers are sold. Here's a link to one place that sells them but LMC, DC and NPD sell the bumper and brackets too. https://raybuck.com/product/1964-72-for ... oCY4Pw_wcB.
