Cab Fuel Tank Color?

Post by jimilivz »

Trying to straighten out the fuel tank mess on my 68 F250. One of the po's replaced the original, non emission tank with one from a 73 truck. It is painted black. Would the original in cab gas tank put in my truck have been painted or unpainted from the factory? My truck is an original deluxe two tone truck with lunar green over Wimbledon white. LMC sells the right tank that I need, just not sure if it is bare metal or primed. Many thanks.

I needed one for mine, and found quite a few in the wrecking yards before I settled on the right one (ie no holes punched in them to drain the fuel). All the ones I saw - including the one I bought - were painted black if memory serves.

The tank in my '68 is painted red the same as the rest of the truck and is all original so I would say it would be whatever the original color of the truck was...........mine is a base model so I cant see a nicer model not being painted...... :?

I have the original cab tank in my '67. It was also Lunar Green over Wimbledon White. The tank is Lunar Green, just like the rest of the cab.

Thanks all. Current plan is to get the new tank/s unit from LMC, and have it painted lunar green.
