Instrument Cluster Connector

Post by gte619n »

Hey guys,

I started to refurbish my gauge cluster today. As soon as I pulled out the connector, all the tabs broken into a billion little pieces. Any idea where I can get a replacement connector? If they're NLA, any other attachment ideas?

Thanks!

Can you post a picture of your plug ? or what is left of it ? I have some harnesses that I pulled out of a F350. Might/maybe have a plug. Thanks

@m9452p

Here's the plug. The little plastic arms broke CLEAN off. I reinstalled and it seemed like ti was pretty right, but I'm still not 100% sure that it'll stay in there.

I'll try to check that harness this afternoon. Looks like same connector on my 70 and 71.

I've been looking for the connector/harness off and on for a few years. Still cant find one. Not at any nearby junkyards either. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.....

Sorry for not getting back to you. The plug on the harness I have is broken also. Not sure if you could get some small wiring terminals and create your own setup following the copper lines on the "circuit" ? on the back of the cluster. There has to be a way.

I think mine is okay for now, just hoping there was a replacement out there.

Just another project for my 3D printer!

I just happened across this subject today as I was looking around for some Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator info. I have the same problem with the connector on my 1970 F100 Sport Custom. One of the plastic "tabs" broke the first time I tried to remove the connector. Anybody know where to get one of these connectors? Thanks.

Looks like your Instrument Cluster has gauges...

National Parts Depot, P/N 14489-10A, $16.95 (and shipping), comes with replacement pins but no pin removal tool.

I used my "Jeweler's Screwdriver set" to remove the pins. Nothing quite like vintage Radio Shack tools...

If your instrument cluster has Idiot Lights, try the P/N 14489-9A part.

Their fitment guide doesn't deal well with Ford trucks, circa 1970, but this -10A part will work for 1970 F250 with Gauges.
It will likely fit 1970/72 F100-350 if the truck has gauges (and possibly others, but don't quote me on that).

NPD is selling a relabeled Ron Francis part, but it's still the same price that Ron Francis charges.
