Question from a dumb swede...

Post by JohanNB »

Hi there.

First of all, Im a Fordification-member from Sweden so please excuse my spelling and English...

I have a Ford F-250 1970. Every now and then when I try to start the truck it won't start, completely dead. Ive checked the start engine and that one is working. If I move the gear shift back and forth a couple of times it often "solves" the problem... So my question is, could it be the ignition switch or the ignition cylinder?

Welcome. I'll assume the truck has an automatic transmission? If so then the neutral safety switch needs adjusted. It mounts to the top of the steering column under the dash and will have two wires for the reverse lamps and two for the starting circuit. Just loosen the two mounting bolts and slide it to the desired position. Your truck should start in 'park' and 'neutral'.

Good luck.
