about ready to start
I have just about signed a contract to start my garage. It will be 28 by 32 feet with ten foot ceilings. 5 in 12 pitch roof with scissors trusses and two 10 by 8 roll-up doors. Doors are going to be on the non-gable end as I am having 28 solar panels installed and that is the southern side and the only way to the street that is accessible. I should have enough ceiling height for a two post lift and a skyhook. the skyhook will be a 4x6 laid across five or six trusses to spread the load and an eyehook to connect a chainhoist to. I will have an exhaust fan at the high point of the ceiling on the down wind side of the building. One mandoor and a window, but I am thinking about eliminating the window for security reasons. I will frame in for a second mandoor on the other side of the garage just in case I decide to store parts out there and I can do that part later. I will post pictures as soon as I can find my digital camera and we have broke ground. Bummer is it just started raining hard a few minutes ago for the first time this year and I am two weeks away from having my plans approved by the county.

Kurt,
That does sound awesome, (I especially like the skylights). Seems as we get older we're always fumbling around on the floor looking for that one dropped part!
I got one step closer to building my barn last week.
Went down to the county and found out I have to get a permit to build it even though my neighbor didn't have to have one!

re: about ready to start
kurt sounds like a plan i also have scissors trusses also and will eventually put in a hook with the chain hoist. just a matter of opinion, i would glue and nail plywood gussets to the trusses to stiffen them up where th 4x6 is going to be. and as far as the roof sheathing? min 5/8" ply for 2 foot centers. dont let the contractor tell ya any different. just my
