Rear cargo light bezel interchange

Post by FORDification »

Here's something interesting that I just found out. The chrome bezel for the rear cargo light used on the '67-'72 trucks is actually a left-over part from the '64-'65 Thunderbird backup light. When Ford decided to use these on our trucks, they didn't match the cab roof contour, which is why they went with the thick gasket that they did....the gasket is more of an adaptor plate!

Just an FYI. :D

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I don't know...is mine upside down or is Kieth's? Mine shines into the bed. Funny though that it's a used Tbird part. I always wondered about the fat gasket.

Whoops.... didn't even notice that when I was whipping up that graphic. I just grabbed a closeup from my picture collection without paying that much attention to it...that picture was from an Ebay listing. But yes, you're right, the one in the pic above is upside down. The factory brochures show that the wider portion of the trim is on the bottom.
