welders

Post by gbrett »

hey guys I am going to be buying a tig welder soon and have kind of narrowed it down to a miller econotig or syncrowave 200 the main thing I will be using it for is welding aluminum and mabey some stainless or body panels I will probably not use it for stick welding at all I have a 300 amp stick machine with 100% duty cycle that welds great so I will probably keep using it for heavy fabrication so are the extra features of the syncrowave worth the extra 500 bucks or feel free to sugest other brands similar machines I am by no means stuck on miller

It depends on what to what to do. I like miller. Syncrowave you can fine tune it to your needs. If I rememder right you can change the peaks and valleys of the waves. On those you can change a lot of stuff. It depends what you want.

Then it could be worth it if thats what you want to do. I have used one a couple of times but on steel. Aluminum is a different animal then steel and it could help you out with that. I think that I would go for it. Also see what the other guys have to sugest. hope that helps.

Get the Synchrowave. The pulse controll will help alot with welding aluminum.

I do all aluminum fab 40hrs a week

well at our shop the miller dynasty is the welder liked the most the welders fight over the thing  .
the syncrowave machine is good enough but its very large and takes up some serious floor space. and a 200 or 250 machine struggles with over 1/4 plate aluminum.

personally I don't care for the name brand as much as the operation, and the weight of the lead, the lincons is heavy and larger meaning its hard to get in tight places. but basically in aluminum welding the squarewave ark is the way to go. and liquid cooled machine really is a good idea.

but before you run out and buy your machine make sure you got the power supply for it, some machines are 208v and some are 220v. and mixing the up really makes your welds look like total crap.
WHAT ?
