I get a call late last night telling me that my brake lights are on.
I'm still 1/2 asleep and thinking WTF, my brake lights are on:?
It seems that the brake pedal hangs a bit low or just didn't come up all the way. I pumped the pedal and the lights went out (at the time I didn't notice if it was one light on or both. these things don't register at 2am). I went back to bed.
So this morning I replaced the pedal bushings, adjusted the stop light switch and it doesn't hang up anymore. the passenger side light brake light wasn't coming on and I thought it was just a burnt out lightbulb from being on for hours but it seems to be something more serious.
I have no brake or turnsignal in the rear of the passenger side.
I have tail lights and back up lights on both sides. the rear drivers side stop/tail/turn lights work fine. the front turn signals work fine, the dash turn indicators work fine
I have no power at all in the green wire that runs down the frame going to the pass side stop/turn light. I tested it all the way up to the firewall.
3 out of 4 emergency flashers also work fine.
all the lights worked yesterday. So what could have burned out from the brake lights being on for hours that would only affect the passenger side rear?
It seems my whole electrical system is self destructing

That sucks! Yeah the stop light switch can be a pain if it's not adjusted perfectly. I used to pull up on my brake pedal before locking up to make sure it was off. When I added power brakes, the pedal returns much better and I don't have that problem anymore.
Anyway, I think you're gonna have to track back all the way to the turn signal switch to find the problem. Be sure to check out connector "T" where the green wire (#282) changes to a orange/blue stripe wire (#5). I have a hunch it's the turn signal switch. Sorry to hear of your problems.

Just a thought: You do have a spring on your brake pedal to pull it back up, right?
I have seen vehicles without them, and it caused the same problem you are having now. The pedal didn't come up all the way.
Electrical problems are such a pain.......

what year is your truck, it might be year related.
my truck is a early 69. there seems to be a cut off in 69 where alot of electrical parts changed and my truck is before that. I found out today that there are 2 turn signal switches for 69 and my truck has the expencive one.

I have a '68. I'm thinking maybe a po added it on. It may be something tp consider, though.

Maybe you should be watching your neighbor's house a bit closer.. They may be over there laughing their heads off at you getting up in the middle of the night and working like mad all day!
Actually.. I'd be suspect of something in the way of the turn signal system as that would cover most of those bases.
Good luck, and keep us posted, please!
