fordman......you said it is with the 78-79 set up you want to stay away from why? I found a 79 f150, I removed the complete front end, brake prop valve, lines, brake hose brackets, mastercyl, pedel inside brakets, powersteering pump, steering box, steering column. I want to install the power disk brakes and powersteering on my 67. I want to do these mods this summer but need more info. The cab I am going to use on my 67 is also from a 72 if that makes a difference. The only thing I won't be using is the steering column as it was for a auto and I need one for a standard.

All those parts will work just fine, with the exception of the power booster and brake pedal. Those parts are too different to work. For info on the brake pedal and brackets, see the following link:

If the power booster looks like this, with the curved pushrod, don't even bother trying to get it to fit. Find one from a '77-older truck. If it's a straight rod, it might fit, you'll just have to try it....but don't hold your breath.

some ['77-'79]are direct bolt in and some others are not. The change was actually in 77 and in the 77-79 time frame Ford used a huge number of different boosters and brake pedals. Why they made so many different ones I do not know but most F250 dual diaphragm boosters will bolt in but the F100 and F350 stuff never seems to based on my experience (just my luck! LOL). There were 8 different brake pedals for 77 to 79 F100-F350 trucks based on what style brakes or booster they had or if they had cruise control! From 73-76 there were four pedals, two with cruise and two without. The 8 different 77-79 pedals include the 4 earlier ones as they kept using them on some applications.

i think there may be a mod if you want to use a 78/79 booster and brackets. i saw this in a 79 4wd. they pedal is further back on the bracket than ours our. you could drill new holes in the bracket. and with the bearign kit to repair your bushings you could move your pedal back to mate up with the curved rod. i am just speculating that this may work. i dont know it was an idea i just came up with .

What about interchanging bump era parts ?? For example. If I want to go to power brakes, do I need the pedal asslembly from a power brake truck or will the manual brake pedal assembly work ??
I have 3 or 4 different P/B boosters. The big one, the small one, etc. etc. Do I need to get the pedals as well ?? All bump era parts, less the '67 year model.
I guess I missed it.

After reading the link posted above I guess it is back to collecting parts. 77 or older brake booster and 68-72 pedel assembly. Since I have to go with a new pedel assembly now to decide if I want to change to a auto or keep the standard.

you can keep your pedal assembly in your truck. there is no need to change it unless your going with a different transmission. and then all you need to do is to change your pedals and not the bracket too. the only real reason to change the bracket is if the bushings are worn out. or to repair the bushings.
