Mystery part #30

Okay guys, this one's a tuffy. I can't really find a picture of them without giving it away. There are four of these and are hidden by a part that comes in a set of six or more usually. They are just metal rods. I got a feeling I'm going to have to give you more hints.

and these ar eon all of our trucks? or just a certain enigne or what? never seen these before. they dont look like stock parts to me.

Well, the picture above shows steel rods for RC model planes...so I'm not sure how that applies to bumpside trucks.

I couldn't find a picture of what it really is. But they are basically the same. Here's a hint, they aren't just for bumps and they are somewhere in the front above the I-beams. I don't think anyone will get this, when I tell you guys what it is you'll think it was a waste of a post. But I wanted some trivia and remembered about these. Part of them get cut off at the factory. I want to see what you guess next, then I'll really start dropping some hints.

Are they the fasteners that hold the clips for the trim that goes on the bump?

Nope, has nothing to do with the body. But they were made to hold something during production.

Well here's the answer. They are metal rods that go in the block. During the casting process, they are in the block to hold the casting as it goes down the line. If you have your freeze plugs out, you will be able to see them around the corner. They are later cut off as they would stick up out of the deck but the main part that runs through the block is still left in it.

I didn't think anyone would get that one. I told you it was a tuffy.

I was going to say welding rod, becaues you said it holds stuff together in production. And technically, welding materials does end up being a part of the bump

Not trying to cheat anyone. I'm just doing it all for fun and games. Its the only thing that I could think of that wouldn't be obvious. I think it was a bad trivia post, no one could have guessed that.
