Leaf springs on...but are they wrong?

Postby JWW on Mon Apr 30, 2012 3:49 pm

I thought I took pretty good pictures of my leaf springs before removing.  However, to be honest, I didn't realize that one sid was longer than the other in relation to the bolt that holds the leafs in place.

I finally got them put back on and felt pretty good about it, but I wanted to run it by you all as well.  I put the shorter side (about 23" to the center bolt) towards the front and the longer side (about 27" to the center bolt) towards the back.  It seemed to look right.  What are your thoughts?  Thanks

That would be my guess & perhaps someone will chime in with concrete answer but you can always set the bed back on where it belongs. That should tell you quick enough.

Those are right based on mine.   Are they the original springs?  They look good.  Where did you get the spring pack clamps?  I need a set for mine since my spring packs are still apart after painting.

Thanks Flyboy.  Yes, they are original.  I did have an extra leaf cut at a spring shop for each side.  That is where I got the clamps.  I had the springs sand blasted and powder coated.

If you've got the motor and tranny in; you could check by installing the driveshaft.  If it fits you're good, if not flip the springs around.

Yes that is correct. If they were on backwards then the diff housing would not be centered directly below the bumpstops.
