Brake booster replacement - pedal height?

I replaced my master cylinder recently and now my booster is hissing. My plan is to replace my booster next. My question is ..is there a way to lower my brake pedal at the same time when I do this.  I have a '69 F 250 CS.  And also I am reading that some people were having trouble finding a replacement without having to modify something.  Is that just because they are making other changes?  My truck is in its original state, so hopefully I won't have that issue. Thanks for any input. Al

This is exactly why I replace both the booster and MC at the same time as a matched set.  You may wish to consider this.

On your 69 there should be an adjustment for the pedal height on the linkage connecting the booster unit to the brake pedal. I had the same issue with mine when replacing it. There is a second adjustment on the booster where it meets the master cylinder that controls the stroke applied to the master cylinder piston. It is in the well of the booster that the MC sits in. Its not often discussed and new or rebuilt units usually come with it preset. When i changed my MC and booster as seperate units it needed some tweaking in that area.

 like Charlie said. And also a word of caution from someone who learned the hard way...
If you decide to try and adjust the linkeage rod between the booster and MC only do it in 1 turn increments!
You can rupture the MC seals very easily by adjusting the stroke too far.

I bought my first truck a 1972 ford f250 and i am concerned with the brake pedal height i am worried its going to be harder to drive or just more diffucult is there anything i can do to make my brake look like a newer fords brake height, like a 78 ford so its level with the accelerator

If you look on your brake pedal there is an adjustment point on the linkage attatched to it that passes through the firewall. You can use this to adjust the pedal height. You can probably also adjust the height of your accelerator  pedal height by some fiddling with the linkage from it to the carburetor under the hood.

Get a booster from a 74-77 model truck.

Here's what you get (kind of hard to see it, but my brake pedal is just slightly higher than the accelerator pedal):

If you get one of the 73-77.5 models, it will work just fine.

The master cylinder and the rest of the braking system do not care what kind of booster you have...

I'm pretty sure the one I have on mine came from a 75 model.
