Ain't duct tape great! The bracing looks like it should work alright, I would think the key is to keep the tarp as tight as possible, water weighs alot! Good luck!

good news-
we added 6 more support pipes to the roof, so water wont build up and sag as easy. When we finished putting these 6 pipes up, we looked at how crazy we must of been while looking at the huge gaps between pipes!(now pretty small gaps)
the tarp is back on again!
its about time!
we also trimmed quite a bit of excess tarp off. and cut one corner.
but i still cant unload the truck of parts and start working on it again just yet, since we will need to replace alot of the mats and make sure it stays up...

bad news-
a bunch of big storms are going to come in starting on thursday which is tomorrow. :x the storms are suppose to be the biggest we have had in a decade, and are suppose to be almost hurricane winds! :wf:
so, i am not going to work tomorrow, so i sit in the pvc shelter all stinkin day watching it closely, for any weeknesses, and to make sure nothing will happen.

ill update tomorrow. hopefully. if im not trapped under hundreds of gallons of water and tarp and broken pvc. we'll see.

oh and those that requested that we buy a premade one, were 100% right. i should have listened.

i dont think anyone should ever make one of these beasts, unless you are 100% sure that it is all-weather proof.

i have seen this idea before. and i was thinking about doing it myself temporarily. but what i have seen done is the legs put into small buckets of concrete to hold the whole thing from blowing away. you probably wont have that much of a problem with it being next to the house like that but i would because i would be in a open back yard. with nothing on three sides of the tent garage i would build.

update:
i dont even want to talk about it, but i will.
it held up in the rain pretty good, but we just had a small bit of wind and it has turned into a disaster.
I went out to check on it an hour ago, and noticed half of it trying to blow away. it had ripped out of the bolts that were bolting it down to the pvc, just above the concrete. it also ripped out of the tarp clips, and swept out from under the heavy stuff holding it down for reinforcement. so i ran around tightening stuff as best as i could. which is where the fun began.
first, right as i get in i drop the only good flashlight wich of course shatters! that was soooo fun.
second, a 50 lb of concrete crushed my fingers against the house-that was super fun.
then, the only in-one-peice concrete bag ripped.
finally, i rip a few more holes in the tarp on accident.
so overall, it was a blast.

I am really considering a pre built shelter now. but i just dont want to spend that kind of money, when i have just wasted over $200 on this shelter. and my dad wasted quite a bit too.

i am sure that it wont last tomorrow's winds (50 mph winds at 5 in the morning to noon). what i did was just temporary.

oh and a pipe popped out of its place too.

im super duper happy.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh
i literally just heard tarp rip right now. i dont want to check on it though. i will just get more happy.

i have seen some guys use 2x4's and nailed the tarps to them. but they also wrapped the tarps around the 2x4's as far as they could before nailing them.

maybe we should do something like that. lay 2x4's down along the tarp where it meets the ground, wrap it up alot, put a million screws in it and soak it in cement.
thanks for the idear.

Tell your dad its time to build you a garage with a concrete floor, heat, ac, 110/220 power, a phone line, a huge IR air compressor with air piped throughout, and completely loaded with snap on tools. Tell him its an "investment" in your future.

well it didnt make it. not even the slightest bit.
at 7 in the morning i found it in 999999.4 peices.
so i ripped the tarp off so water wouldnt build up on it and make it hard to remove.
Im pretty sure were done with this.
anyone need a million ft of pvc? 1.5 in?
i dont know if it will sell very well on craigslist, and i dont want to throw it away.

im really liking this, but it wont say the shipping.

Sorry to hear your shelter didn't make it Ryan. I see on that page it says that shipping is $20 on top of regular shipping, so I can't see it being more then maybe $35 all together. I have had nothing but great experiances with them, the buyers club is worth it if there is more you want to order as well.
