Reverse light switch

Post by mrsnicks »

Can someone tell me where that goes, what it plugs into? Been trying to figure out why my reverse lights don't work. Might need that piece but not sure.

Could be a problem with my netural safety switch too... its bypassed with
the connector from a manual trans truck.

The one in that auction is for manual 3-spd columns only. It gets mounted down at the very base of the column, in the engine compartment.

Trucks with automatics had the neutral safety switch mounted at the base of the column inside the cab.

My 71 has the switch at the base of the column, but someone put a floorshift in it and now it doesn't have the BU lights connected. Does anyone have any ideas where and how to mount one? :? It has the old INDY shifter in it

I looked in your 'My Info' box but see you don't have the transmission listed (hint hint) ;) ....so what type of tranny do you have?

Regardless, you should be able to get a backup switch for that Hurst from any speed shop, or I'd imagine you could also get it from places like Jegs, Summit, etc.

Build sheet says it's a 3 speed ford manual transmission. But it also calls for a 240 engineand I know it was replaced with a 300 so kinda iffy as to whether the trans has been changed. Got it in the profile now. Thanks

Here's the necessary page at Jegs:

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... ryId=10627

However, I see that the two kits they have aren't specifically for your shifter, though the top one is basically what you have, although I'm not sure whether those could be adapted for yours or not. The PDF installation instructions for this same shifter at Summit also shows that the backup light switch is Part # 248 0003, which coincides with the Jeg's description, so I'm guessing it'll work.

OK. Thanks. I'll see if I can get it and make it work somehow.
